Shonda Smitherman

Shonda Smitherman

FNP

Shonda has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for over 25 years, with experience in women’s health, OB/GYN, adult health, pediatrics, communicable diseases, and acute/chronic conditions. She holds certifications
through the American Nurses Credentialing Center, World Link Medical (Hormone Replacement Therapy), and NIFLA (Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound).

In 2012, she launched medical services at Compassion Care Center, driven by her vision to bridge the gap for pregnant women who need support. At Bloom, Shonda provides medical care and guidance, helping women feel informed and supported throughout every stage of life, with a special focus on pregnancy. She loves empowering women with health knowledge and being part of their journey.

Outside the clinic, Shonda enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and exploring holistic health through essential oils, red light therapy, and natural remedies.

Sarah Pina

Sarah Pina

CNA/Phlebotomist

Sarah has over 20 years of medical experience across long-term care, rehab facilities, and hospitals. She earned her CNA at Surry Community College, her Phlebotomy certification at Wilkes Community College, and is CPR certified and bilingual.

Sarah’s journey at Bloom began as an interpreter, but she quickly felt called to serve on the medical side. Today, she provides vital signs, medical intake, blood draws, pregnancy testing, and hands-on support to help every patient feel safe, seen, and cared for. She loves using her professional skills and personal
story to support women both medically and emotionally.

Outside the clinic, Sarah enjoys being spontaneous, trying new things, and making memories with her family, kids, and energetic dog. She loves Jesus, cooking, dancing, live music, and the simple joys of life, always bringing warmth and positivity wherever she goes.

 

Julia Bryant

Julia Bryant

RN

Julia has been a Registered Nurse for 20 years, with experience in surgical intermediate care, women’s health and newborn nursery care, and cardiac procedures, where she continues to work. Certified in limited obstetrical ultrasound (NIFLA), she provides pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and offers emotional and spiritual support to ensure every woman feels heard and valued while providing compassionate medical care.

Julia was drawn to Bloom by a desire to give back to her community and support women during pivotal moments in their lives. At the clinic, she helps women make informed decisions, offering care and encouragement throughout their journey.

Outside of work, Julia loves spending time with her husband and two children, exploring the outdoors, traveling, gardening, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying farm living.
